Spotted an error after filing — missed income, a wrong deduction, an incorrect bank account? Section 139(5) lets you correct it, as long as you're within the window.
Section 139(5) allows a revised return to correct a genuine mistake or omission in a return already filed — whether that return was filed on time or was itself belated. It can be filed multiple times within the permitted window, but the window does close: generally 31 December of the relevant assessment year, or before the return is assessed, whichever comes first.
Missed income, wrong deduction claims, or incorrect personal details — fixed with the right documentation behind it.
We check how much time you actually have left before the revision deadline closes, so nothing is left too late.
While correcting the specific error, we check the rest of the return too, so you're not filing a second revision next month.

Missed income, an incorrectly claimed deduction, a wrong bank account for refund, or an incorrect personal detail — anything that was an honest mistake rather than deliberate misreporting.
Generally until 31 December of the relevant assessment year, or before your return is assessed by the department — whichever happens first.
Yes — there's no limit on the number of revisions within the permitted window, though each revision replaces the previous one entirely.
Yes — a belated return filed under Section 139(4) can be revised under Section 139(5) the same way an on-time original return can.
You can file it yourself on the portal — but a revised return replaces the entire original filing, so a rushed correction can introduce a new error while fixing the old one. We check the full return, not just the line you're worried about.
